When I started late last year, I new I needed mentorship and fellowship and feedback. I joined on with the two best songwriting groups I could find. I have not been disappointed. SongTown was the first. Marty Dodson and Clay Mills have been incredible. They run a very effective environment that has been such a boost for me. They don’t know me from Adam. I’m not on the radar yet. But I will be. I do my lessons, watch the tutorials and read every word they write. The sense of community there is tremendous. Songpreneur, ran by Amanda Colleen Williams is second group and I have learned a great deal there as well. I have also become a huge fan of Amanda, the artist and an even bigger fan of Amanda, the person. She and I have been through similarl health circumstances and I can relate to her struggle. I just want to give a shout out here to these groups. If by some chance I do pull this off, I will owe a huge debt of gratitude to these folks. I already do!
If I have pestered you and asked to be one of your Facebook friends, I apologize. I know how annoying that stuff can be. I’m trying to connect with as many like-minded folk as possible in hopes of learning and sharing all I can. I haven’t caught on to all the FB tricks yet either so please be patient with me.
I know writer’s nights and rounds are important for the singer-songwriter. I’ll be looking to do more and more of this as I go along. First, here in Athens, then Atlanta and ultimately to Nashville. So, I’ll be out and about from time to time. I hope you can stop by some time and give a listen.
This journey is going to need a lot of folks spreading the word if we hope to make this work. I’ll get better over time at making the songs available through the various services. But I am convinced the best outcome will be achieved if a whole bunch of us like-minded folks get together and spread the word. These are songs about real things. About you. This is a real person sharing what’s sure to be a roller coaster ride with you. An independent, DIY songwriter with but one purpose – to write a good song and to move you in some small way. See you there! Track previews can be found at my SoundCloud account. Enjoy!
